This weeks guest-dj: INPETTO aka DUDERSTADT (Germany)

This weeks 30 minutes guest dj for Club Nation Episode 057 is INPETTO aka DUDERSTADT

Marco & Dirk: the brothers Duderstadt have tasted dichotomous success as both an internationally famous chart-topping act and as a renowned & respected underground trance production outfit… All at the same time.

As Fragma – alongside Hardfloor alumni Ramon Zenker – they scaled the peaks of the world’s charts with ‘Toca’s Miracle’. As Duderstadt, they’ve achieved recognition across the EDM community as a quality trance producers and DJs par compare…

Fragma…
‘Toca Me’ was Marco & Dirk’s first release as producers. Licensed from Orbit recordings in 1999, Positiva successfully saw it pitch up at number 11 in the UK charts after a slew of European radio support. Over the moon with the success of their first release, the brothers had absolutely no idea what was about to follow… Caught in the middle of the mash-up bootleg craze, a little known English DJ by the unlikely name of Lemon married ‘Toca Me’ with Coco’s ‘I Need a Miracle’. Radio stations in Europe went into overdrive, playing the amalgamated version and ‘Toca’s Miracle’ turned into just that. Six short months later, in April 2000 it exploded back into the UK charts, going straight in at No.1 and cementing the Fragma name.

The single was quickly rolled out around the world for release… Legendary imprint Strictly Rhythm picked it for The States and Avex released it in Japan. It went to No. 2 in Scandinavia, Top 10 in Australia & No 99 in the US Billboard Charts, while hitting No. 1 in all of the international Dance Charts.

‘Toca’, Fragma’s first album was not far behind. Proving they were no one-hit wonders, it went on to spawn three more hits in the UK, two of which (‘Everytime You Need Me’ & ‘You Are Alive’) entered the top 5. The album itself went top 20 in Scandinavia & the UK & top 40 in Australia. Between 2001 & 2007 they released 8 more Fragma singles and an album (‘Embrace’), which saw releases in the USA & their homeland Germany. After initially using it to remix ‘Toca Me’ in 99, the brothers hit refresh on Inpetto, their tech-house project. In 2007, under the guise, the brothers reworked ‘Toca Me’ into a new version. At time of writing the Fragma story prepares to come full circle, as Positiva re-release ‘Toca’s Miracle’ in early 2008.

Duderstadt…
In 2001 Marco & Dirk began to pull off one of the hardest tricks in the music industry book… Taking advantage of the relative anonymity that the ‘Fragma’ name had provided, they began quietly inventing their side-project: ‘Duderstadt’… A credible Ying to their chart-busting Yang… Starting out gradually they produced remixes for the likes of Monoculture & Blank & Jones under their new moniker. After remixing for the latter’s Gang: Go imprint they released their first single ‘Sunrise’ on the label in 2003. 2005 & 2006 brought the follow-up singles ‘Mahananda’ & ‘Mahanjala’ and a change of labels to fast-growing German imprint Afterglow Records. DJ support started to grow as luminaries like PVD, Armin & Ferry Corsten threw their weight behind the tracks. The Anita Kelsey vocalled ‘Smile’ was released in early 2007, scooping both the ‘Tune of the Week’ & ‘Future Favourite’ gongs on Armin van Buuren’s ASOT show. In addition it also made ‘Web Vote Winner’ on Above & Beyond’s TATW. Their latest single ‘Beattitude’ (vocalled by Opus 3’s Kirsty Hawkshaw) has just been released to similarly widespread acclaim.

The brothers have also co-written and produced tracks for other artists of the likes of Alex Morph & Rank 1 (Life Less Ordinary), Woody van Eyden & Alex Morph’s ‘Heavenly’ & Plastic Angel’s Call The Galaxy Taxi’ and they continue to carve out a name for themselves as remixers, reworking tracks for labels like Blackhole, Vandit, Anjunabeats & Solaris.

This weeks guest-dj: BART CLAESSEN (Netherlands)

This weeks 30 minutes guest dj for Club Nation Episode 056 is Bart Claessen

Born in the Eindhoven region, smack-bang in the middle of Netherlands’ Trance-central, Bart was perfectly positioned to embrace and capitalize on the then-embryonic Dutch sound. Caught by the bug, Bart hard-grafted whilst at high school to raise the money to buy his first studio equipment – going on to outfit his parent’s attic into his first studio. On graduating high school he went on to study Music Technology at the Utrecht School of Arts and simultaneously started work on his debut production.

As Barthezz:
Through a raft of licenses to a network of the world’s most famous dance labels (Positiva, Ultra, Avex and Superstar among them), ‘On The Move’ became one of the biggest crossover dance hits of 2001. It notched-up Top 10 national positions in over 10 countries, was nominated for two of Holland’s prestigious TMF awards (for Best National Dance Act & Best Video) and, in Germany alone, sold a whopping 150,000 copies.

As Bart Claessen:
In 2004 he effected a reinvention-cum-revolution; a 2.0 for Bart. Using his own name as his revised production handle, he re-emerged with a new tougher, wider-scope sound. Club-hit followed club hit as ‘Persona Non Grata’, ‘Playmo’, ‘When Morning Comes’ & ‘First Light’ all set fire to dancefloors between 2004 & 2008. ‘Playmo’s idiosyncratic tech-tone, mixed with a blisteringly bouncy production became and evergreen club-favourite for DJs like Tiësto, Armin and Ferry Corsten. It was also blended with Motorcycle’s ‘As The Rush Comes’ to form ‘As Playmo Comes’, and in doing so became one of the hottest dance bootlegs of 2006. ‘First Light’ was a bolt-from-the-blue smash in the Netherlands’ national singles chart, reaching number 18 in the Top 40. ‘Catch Me’, the vocal reworking of ‘Playmo’, quickly repeated the same trick in 2008. Most recently ‘Madness’, his debut for the highly-respected Anjunabeats label tore up dancefloors in the second half of the year.

Bart played at some of the biggest events and clubs, including Coloursfest, Cream @ Amnesia, the Sunrise Festival in Poland, Peppermint in Dubai, Melbourne’s Ultraworld, Godskitchen Kiev and many more.

Be sure to check the 30 minutes of Bart Claessen this week in Club Nation 056.
